SCHOOLS

St. Nicolas school was built in 1872 and at one time housed girls, boys and infants. The infants moved to a new building in 1903.  When we were at school this was a mixed school.  The school was originally built for the benefit of the poor of the Parishes of Portslade and Hangleton.

This is a picture of St. Nicolas infants school on the west side of Locks Hill built in 1903.  I believe at the time of our schooling this was also a mixed school.
